All RICE baskets are handmade from raffia, which naturally varies in colour. This variation is also reflected in the dyeing: sometimes the colour is lighter, while at other times it is more intense. This means no two baskets are exactly alike. The same applies to the shape, which may also vary slightly. We think it’s part of the charm that you can see the product is handmade. If you order several baskets at once, we’ll send you ones that are as close as possible in colour and shape. Unfortunately, we can’t show photos of the different variations. 

About the material: Raffia fibres are a fantastic natural material made from palm leaves. Rice’s raffia comes from Madagascar, where every raffia product is made with care. The products are made in two villages in the mountains of Madagascar, where production helps provide the residents with more and better resources. It supports more than 300 families on the Red Island. As raffia is a natural material and the baskets are handmade, each product will vary slightly in colour, shape and size. The colours will fade if the product is exposed to constant sunlight. Avoid water, as it may cause the colour to run.
