This is where Véronique Michel-Dalès founded “les jeux du Djeco”. At a time when relatively few women and mothers started their own businesses, she set out to create educational games and toys for children of all ages.
The first products included colourful domino games designed to help children learn letters, numbers, syllables and arithmetic. More illustrated games followed later.
The name Djeco has a little story of its own. It was inspired by the gecko – a small lizard from Southeast Asia that is associated with good luck.
Véronique’s son Frédéric grew up with the company and was already testing his mother’s ideas as a child. However, after its first successful years, Djeco entered a quieter period.
In 1989, Frédéric took over the family business. He travelled around the world in search of unusual toys and games, gradually developing ideas for products he could not find on the market.
